Nice writeup and I have to agree. I was reconsidering getting this since I last used it on a basic kindle but have a voyage now. You have reminded me exactly why I unsubscribed in the first place. I can get the same content on my smartphone or PC for free.

For what it is worth. I buy a paper copy when I have time to read it properly and subscribe via the Play store for £2.50 a month.

I am not into i-Pad apps but as a subscriber to the Guardian I was very dissappointed to find that I have to pay £9.99 a month for a Kindle download.
The Kindle gives an excellent presentation of the newspaper but is clearly mainly useful for those occasions when the paper copy is not to hand.

I used Calibre and the recipes they have to download the Guardian/Observer. The recipes work like a news scrapper. This will download and send to the kindle virtually any web-based news feed.
