The Tower of Babel

Giles Booth

Release 3

An alpha version of an adventure in which you are studio manager in the early 1990s doing a night shift. The aim of the game is to get a radio programme on air at 5am. The game is unfinished, but you can consider getting into the studio before the pre-transmisson test (PTT) alarm goes off a success. There are some rooms you have to bribe your way into which are currently mere diversions but which will become more important. Some familiarity with the geography of Bush House in the BBC World Service era may be an advantage. Hint: you'll need a studio key and you've left yours at home. You can save the game at any point using 'save' and re-load it with 'restore'.

The Tower of Babel was created with Inform and has IFID 665E7DA9-512F-4F03-80B1-D14691531081. To play a work like this one, you need an interpreter program: many are available, among them Gargoyle for Mac OS X or Windows; Windows Frotz or Windows Glulxe for Windows. The postcard was written by Andrew Plotkin and designed by Lea Albaugh. Or you can play without downloading anything by following the 'Play In-Browser' link, using the Quixe interpreter. You'll need to have Javascript enabled on your web browser.
